1 SEPTEMBER - New Studio

Well, we arrived safely in the US after a great holiday in New Zealand and Fiji! We were staying with my in-laws for the last few weeks while we waited for our rental to be ready, but as of today, we are in and we are setting up home in California!

I have continued painting and drawing almost every day, challenging myself with new mediums and practising new styles but the evidence will remain tucked away in my sketch book - some of them we re successful and will be recreated on canvas at a later stage, but some will never see the light of day again!

I have a little room that I will be setting up as a studio so I will be able to grab some canvases now and as soon as my stuff arrives from Australia, I will really get stuck in!

For those who have been asking, I am hoping to release a small series of paintings later this month and I still have a few works available at my Australian stockists.

4 JUNE - Packing up

So, we sold our house last weekend and it is all coming together with our imminent move to Lake Tahoe!

I have already started packing up but am continuing to paint away for as long as possible. I have a few commissions to finish up, and a bunch of work promised to shops (that I am only half way through) so the pressure is on!

Unfortunately, I won't be able to complete any more works for the website before we go, so the paintings that are online now are literally the only ones I have available.

I am going to miss working in my little studio at the end of the garden, but am excited to get to the US and start creating in my new workspace there!

28 MAY - Another wonderul workshop

Yesterday I held another workshop in Freedom Hub, Sydney with 8 amazingly beautiful people attending and practising their painting skills. With such a range of styles and interpretations, I can't help but feel there is an abstract artist within each of us, just waiting to burst out.

So, pick up a brush and just try - you never know where it will bring you!

8 MAY - HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT

I AM LEAVING AUSTRALIA!!!

Ryan, the kids and I have decided to move overseas in order to be nearer to our families. We will miss Australia so much as it is truly our home, but we feel that the kids need to enjoy the extended family so we are taking the plunge and moving to California in July!

I will be having a break from painting on arrival, while we get ourselves organised, but will be finding a new studio as soon as possible.

Until July though, I will be painting like a crazy person and getting as much of my art online as possible so you can purchase a piece before I leave.

Commissions are also now closed, but you I have a lot of art in progress so let me know if you are after a particular style and I will see if I have anything that might work for you!

Thanks again to all my wonderful followers, supporters and collectors in Australia, and the world. I am so grateful to be able to paint all day and would not be able to do it without you.

x Marnie

6 MAY - CanToo charity auction

When I was approached to be a live artist a charity function to be held in Sydneys wharfs, I jumped at the chance. CanToo is such an amazing organisation, giving hope and drive to people affected by cancer.

My mission for the night was to create a colourful painting in the space of three hours that would be auctioned off at the end of the night. It was a challenge, as I usually add layers over a matter of three weeks rather than three hours, but I got there in the end and was delighted when it was auctioned off as it dried in the corner, raising $2500 for the charity.

26 APRIL - New workshop date!!!

Due to demand, I have booked in another workshop next month at Freedom Hub! It has limited spots and sold out super quick last time. There is also a strong chance that this will be my FINAL ONE in Sydney, so don't dally!

24 APRIL - Spotted in Real Living!

I love it when someone spots my art somewhere I didn't expect it, and today, it was in Real Living magazine! My friends Crystal and Mitch from Design Twins are brand ambassadors for Dulux paints, and as my very first stockists, I can't thank them enough for the support they have given me.

This time, they used one of my works alongside some gorgeous copper patina pots that they painted for a Dulux promotion featured in this months interiors bible Real Living. Thank you guys!!!

23 APRIL - Workshop photos

What a wonderful morning I had with so many lovely people, willing to give abstract art a try! There were some really beautiful artworks painted by the end of the session, and hopefully some very happy people too! I have had a bunch of requests for another workshop, so I will try and co-ordinate with Freedom Hub for another one soon! Maybe I will see you there!

29 MAR - Workshop

Yes, it is happening! I am hosting an acrylic art workshop in Sydney next month and tickets are on sale now!

The workshop will start with practice artworks on paper before moving on to a 35cm square canvas, where Marnie will guide you through the process of creating your very own acrylic artwork.

There will be the opportunity to purchase snacks and drinks at the venue, with 100% of the cafe profit supporting survivors of modern day slavery here in Australia.

$25 from each workshop ticket will also go directly the The Freedom Hub, which is a non-profit organisation helping victims of human trafficking to get back into society.

To book your spot, click here and I will see you there!

23 MAR - Cake Heaven

I have just found out that the amazing cake artists at Don't Tell Charles have created a custom cake based on one of my paintings.

You can't tell me this isn't an artwork in itself!

Check out the video link here

20 MAR -

Things are all go here with commission applications now closed for the foreseeable future.

I will be continuing to add art to my website as much as I can, and have created a wait list for those interested in first dibs on new works, but my commission calendar is chock a block until July when there will be a big change with everything!

For now, I am working hard on some exciting projects and have a few interesting events to look forward to in the next couple of months but it is all still a little hush hush until I get everything totally locked down.

To counteract the dull grey skies outside the studio this autumn, I have been experimenting a lot with colour and I am having great fun getting to grips with my palettes. But for now, here is a photo from the amazing shoot at the Ridge Hotel in Brisbane, featuring some of my works.

28 FEB - Last day of summer -

It has been a great week, having been interviewed and featured in the Style Curator blog  which is my have lifestyle blog around! I also have a few exciting projects up my sleeve that I am working on when I get the chance, but with this being my best week of sales yet, I am playing a bit of catch up with my store. I have spent all week packaging and shipping paintings, with a few of this weeks collectors living as far away as London and Hong Kong and am dying to get back into it tomorrow and get my hands dirty!

14 FEB - Valentines Day -

I am just in the studio today, painting away, but threw together a quick video of a painting I completed last week called "You, Me and the Sea"
